In Prayers

When my eyes wont close and the clock takes a week to move from 2.50am to 3.10am, I say the serenity prayer. I picture myself falling backwards onto a bed of flower petals. I say to the breeze (courtesy of my AC)

I trust you dear God, I trust you to always always lead me towards my best life, my highest purpose. There is nothing you will put in my path that is not in my best interest. Dear God, I am going to let go and do your will.”

Then I take a breath. A deep one, and repeat. I’m ready to say the Serenity Prayer, I’ve mentally allowed myself to be happy in the moment.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

Amen.–Reinhold Niebuhr
