Big 5 Personality Traits Attributes

Here is a brief overview of the Big 5 Personality Traits and their attributes.

You should have just finished the personality test, now I bet you are curious as to what all these attributes mean.

According to Wikipedia people who are high in Openness are ,inventive and curious vs. consistent and cautious. They also have an appreciation for art, emotion, adventure, unusual ideas, curiosity, and variety of experiences.

Those who are high in Conscientiousness are efficient and organized vs. easy-going and careless. They have a tendency to show self-discipline, act dutifully, and aim for achievement. They have planned rather than spontaneous behavior.

Those who are high in Extroversion are outgoing and energetic vs. solitary and reserved).  They are energetic, with positive emotions, urgency, and have the tendency to seek stimulation in the company of others.

Those who are high in Agreeableness are friendly and compassionate vs. cold and unkind. They have a tendency to be compassionate and cooperative rather than suspicious and antagonistic towards others.

Those who are high in Neuroticism are sensitive and nervous vs. secure and confident.  They have a tendency to experience unpleasant emotions easily, such as anger, anxiety, depression, or vulnerability.

Chances are you are high in a few of the Big 5 Ocean Personality Traits. You may or may not be happy knowing the results of your quiz. The point is not to feel despondent. You should feel powerful. You are armed with new knowledge about yourself  and being forewarned really is being forearmed. As we get deeper into each individual personality trait in the next few weeks this will become clearer. Knowing you are high in Neuroticism, will help you the next time you start to worry that you have inadvertently offended someone. Instead of worrying and worrying and worrying, you will find yourself stopping and attributing it to anxiety. Then you will keep telling yourself that it is a figment of my Neuroticism until surprise surprise... You don't worry anymore.

The chart below is very interesting. Please click on it so that you can see a full version of it. It will outline how you are different from those who scored low in the areas you scored high in and vice versa. Now you have a basic tool to analyze other peoples personalities. This is important because now that you know you have no control over being anxious because you are high in Neuroticism, you can forgive another easily for let's say being being annoyingly Conscientious and overly neat.
